ROME, Italy, March 5, 2013/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The number of Egyptians studying Italian has boomed, with enrolments of university students learning the language of Dante rising fourfold in the last two years. The figure rose from 491 in academic year 2011/2012 to 1930 in 2012/2013, making a total of 9322 students enrolled in courses featuring Italian as a first or second language. And that figure is set to rise, if we consider that the number of pupils studying Italian in secondary school has risen from under 20,000 to over 90,000.
