Statement by the spokesperson of EU High Representative Catherine Ashton on the situation in Guinea
BRUSSELS, Kingdom of Belgium, March 5, 2013/African Press Organization (APO)/ — The spokesperson of Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and
Security Policy and Vice-President of the Commission, issued the following statement today:
“The High Representative is observing with concern the violent events in Guinea following an
authorised opposition protest.
She calls on all parties to exercise restraint and pursue the talks which began on 4 March 2013.
In order to complete the transition as quickly as possible, all parties must assume their responsibilities, stop all violence and provocation and help create a calmer atmosphere in which sincere political dialogue can take place.
The European Union repeats its call for a transparent and inclusive electoral process.”
