I like the photo journals on BBC NEWS as I find the subjects they choose really informative, generally with a focus on positive issues. The photo essay about carpenters in Congo highlights a group of young people who all have hearing and speech problems.

Uronya is the carpenter in the village of Lopka. He agreed to take in youths from his village who had either been in armed groups or who were vulnerable backgrounds as extra apprentices. Normally he is paid a goat to accept an apprentice but COOPI UNICEF’s implementing partner on this project had convinced him to accept them for free as part of the village’s contribution to reintegrating these children.

I’m sorry Audrey, so far I have been unable to find a website for this programme. If I do find out more information I will publish it on here.

Do they have a website ? Is it possible to donate money to them?
