An article from ICT4Africa caught my eye and I linked through to look.
“infoDev and COL are working together to produce country reports on ICT use in education in Africa. Reports are distributed under Creative Commons License. InfoDev and COL have begun to release draft country reports now available on Wikieducator Web site. According to a recent highlight published by InfoDev, the project is “Working with teams of country and regional researchers and in collaboration with numerous partner organizations, infoDev and COL are attempting to gather together in a single omnibus resource the most relevant and useful information on ICT in education activities in Africa. “
There is a list of countries’ reports which will be added to as reports come available.

It is not generally known, but the Khanya project initiative of the Western Cape Province, South Africa, has already assisted over 700 schools to develop computer facilities. To date over 20 000 PCs have been deployed, and over 14 00 educators trained in the use of ICT in curriculum delivery.
