Americans spend so much time fixated on oil in the Middle East that they generally pay little or not attention to sub-Saharan Africa, which supplies almost as much black gold to the U.S. as the Persian Gulf States.

 

From May 13 2009 the ‘International Sea-Bed Authority’ will administer what space the African countries are unable to claim as the ‘common heritage of mankind’.

 

I guess I have been around long enough that I am rarely really shocked. However, a story on IPS News from Malawi caught my eye, and yes – I admit it – I am shocked.
